Some students enter seminary with plenty of experience- I didn’t. Some students could afford to finish seminary having preached and led very little- I couldn’t. Grace Pres was, and is, the place for students to get the hands-on experience and pastoral development they need to enter ministry prepared. This is your place to try, fail, and grow.
OVERVIEWMy name is Rev. Daniel Vinson and I’m the pastor at Grace Pres, a smaller church about 25 minutes south in Waxhaw. A graduate of RTS Charlotte myself, my heart is to give students a truly beneficial internship. Opportunity to be developed as leaders.the best possible internship experience they can have. Interns will to labor alongside me in the work of ministry receive personalized feedback and coaching. Each intern has an area of emphasis (e.g., worship, students) but also receives regular opportunities for general pastoral ministry (preaching, teaching, discipling, etc.). This particular internship is for students who want to grow in all aspects of ministry but who also have the gifts and desire to serve by leading music on Sunday mornings.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Prepare and lead Sunday-morning music at least twice a month (instrument and vocals)- Coordinate and lead rehearsals at least twice a month- Oversee the scheduling of musicians and the distribution of music (through Planning Center Online).- Attend regular pastor/intern meetings for planning, teaching, and coaching.- Take regular opportunities to preach, teach, or lead a small group.Total estimated hours per week is 12-15.
COMPENSATIONWhile we think our internship program is one of the best, we get that we’re a little farther out than other churches (~30 minutes from RTS). To help cover the cost of travel we compensate our interns at $8,000 per year.
